The Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) department at FHI 360 is dedicated to improving health and well-being through social marketing, communication and behavior change activities. We examine not only what people think, but also what they do and why they do it. Then we put those insights to work in multifaceted programs that shape attitudes and motivate people to act.
From formative research to program design, training and technical assistance to strategic partnerships, and award-winning communication products, our team strives to identify and implement science-based strategies to address each client’s marketing or behavior change challenge.
In the past decade, our team has worked on issues such as obesity prevention, sexual health, cancer, asthma, diabetes, immunizations, violence prevention, access to health care, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, educational equity, workplace and traffic safety, and tobacco control and cessation.
Location: Remote or hybrid; US; Eastern time zone. Preference for candidates based in (1) Atlanta and (2) DC. Hybrid schedule options are available wherever there is an FHI 360 office (Atlanta, GA; Washington, DC; New York, NY; Durham, NC).
Job Summary:
Performs and provides administrative, programmatic and logistical support duties. Prepares documents and reports, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting/referring/assisting others, mail distribution, and photocopying. Collects and verifies data, summarizes and reconciles information. Coordinates and maintains records management. Serves as a primary resource for assistance in the department.
Accountabilities:
- Assists domestic HIV communication program staff with administrative and secretarial requests and tasks.
- Coordinates technical visits, travel authorizations, procurement, expense reports, and contract agreements to support implementation of US-based programs.
- Maintains databases, web pages, and data integrity and security according to quality standards and company policy.
- Performs day-to–day routines independently with own initiative.
- Prepares documents, reports and briefing materials for consultants, staff and clients.
- Coordinates division of workload among other administrative/support staff.
- Assists in the orientation/training of new administrative/support staff.
- Performs entry level technical program related tasks.
- Ensures documentation and reports are tracked regularly and adhere to technical standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Works independently and within a team on special non-recurring and ongoing projects/programs.

- Typically reports to a Manager or Associate Director.
Education: **
- Associate’s degree or its International Equivalent
- Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
Experience:
- Typically requires 0-2 years of programs and administrative support experience.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language as appropriate.
- Prior experience in a non- governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s preferred
- One year of relevant experience required; Administrative office experience preferred
- Interest and experience in health communication helpful
- Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to small details
- Adapts to change quickly and easily and shows willingness to learn
- Outside-of-the-box thinker and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals
- Proficiency with MS Office suite
Typical Physical Demands:
- Typical office environment.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move 5-50 lbs.
Technology to be used:
- Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs, and other hand-held devices.
Travel Requirements:
- 10%-25%.
