The vacancy is called for District based position for ‘The Right to a Family – capacity strengthening local duty bearers and communities on parental rights’ project in two Rural Municipalities of Sindhupalchowk from November 2023 funded by Alternatives to Separation (ATOS). The overall objective of the project intervention is to ‘enhance the implementation’ the UN Resolution on the Rights of the Child adopted in December 2019 specifically focusing on children who are at risk of losing parental care.
Position: Coordinator– Child Right to Family
- Required No: One
- Duration and workstation: November 2023 – January 2025 Sindhupalchok with frequent travel to implementing areas (2 Rural Municipalities, Helambu and Balefi)
Job Summary:
The Coordinator is responsible for managing the project overall activities to fulfill the project overall expected results: 1. Key local government duty bearers and policy recognize the causes of separation and have a Child Protection Policy with gatekeeping strategies in place. 2. The rural municipalities of Helambu and Balefi have active Child Rights Protection Committees. 3. The general public are aware of need for child safety and protocols for reporting suspected maltreatment. They are aware of the causes and harms of child separation.
Key Qualification and Competencies:
- Master’s degree in Sociology/Social Work/Development Studies/Social Science or related field with minimum three years of demonstrated work experience or bachelor’s degree with minimum five years of experience in human rights/ child rights/ child protection/right to parental care
- Experience in policy engagement, lobby and advocacy, community mobilization, training delivery and report writing.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Training and experience in, human rights, child rights, child protection with special focus on rights to parental care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and skills in managing social media and online platforms.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, enthusiastic and goal-oriented attitude and willing to bring creative ideas in the work.
- Excellent spoken and written English and Nepali.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the project implementation planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of project’s activities.
- Facilitate effective coordination and networking with municipal, provincial and federal governments and related stakeholders/partners at local to national level.
- Be responsible to implement the project and activities, build relationship with local government officials, SMC/PTAs, media and support project in building relationship with provincial and local level.
- Engage in policy advocacy and lobby at different level, and conducting meetings, workshops and training according to project plan.
- Lead the advocacy awareness campaigns at the local level through innovative ideas and actions.
- Conduct/support local government leaders in developing child protection policies and gate keeping strategies.
- Coordinate with the local NGO partners for training implementation.
- Manage to utilize social media and use online platforms for capacity building and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct program monitoring in the district, communicate program requirements, develop knowledge documents, prepare organizational and project progress reports of high quality.
