Introduction of organization 

Disable Empowerment and Communication Center Nepal (DEC-Nepal) is a non-governmental, non-profit making, non-political community-based organization running by and for the persons with disabilities. The motto of DEC-Nepal is to empower the person with disabilities by providing access and opportunities to uplift their social, cultural, economic, political and environmental status. DEC-Nepal has been duly registered with the District Administration Office (DAO) in Banke (Registration No. 888/064/065) and is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (Affiliation NO. 23124).

DEC-N has been working for the empowerment of persons with disability as well as to advocate and lobby with local governments to promote, ensure the rights, inclusive development and meaningful participation of persons with disability aligning with UNCRPD and disability rights act of Nepal.

Activity background

The USAID Inclusive Livelihoods-West Activity is being  implemented jointly by CBM, Disable Empowerment and Communication  Nepal (DEC-Nepal), and KOSHISH – Self-help Groups of Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities in four municipal areas of Banke (Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan, Khajura Rural Municipality) and Dang (Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan, Dangisharan Rural Municipality) Districts to support persons with disabilities for economic empowerment by the means of enterprise and employment through accessible and inclusive employers, financial institutions, and local market. The goal of the Activity is toward inclusive, sustainable, and resilient livelihoods of persons with disabilities in the aftermath of Covid-19 in the selected districts of Banke and Dang districts of Lumbini province of Nepal.

Position: Junior Technical Assistance (JTA)

  • Required No: 2 positions
  • Location: 1 position in Nepalgunj Sub metropolitan City, Banke and 1 in Tulsipur Sub metropolitan City, Dang.
  • Duration: Fixed term, Six (6) months as an individual consultant.

Desired academic qualifications, skills and experiences of consultants

  • At least a Technical SLC (JTA-Agriculture) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in livelihood improvement activities. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with persons with disabilities and familiarity with accessible livelihood technologies and techniques.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Consultant

  • Technical support to the farmer with disabilities in project sites.
  • Providing technical assistance in implementing inclusive agricultural practices, such as improved cropping systems, organic farming and climate-resilient techniques (appropriate technique for persons with disability).
  • Assist on promotion of accessible and innovative technologies in project area.
  • Collaboration and coordination with local cooperatives, Self-help groups, Activity team, local government, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collecting data on agricultural outputs, beneficiaries’ progress, and challenges.
  • Submitting weekly/monthly reports to the Project Coordinator.

Selection process

The selection process for the Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) positions will involve a thorough evaluation of applicants based on their qualifications, experience, and alignment with the project’s objectives. Following the initial screening of applications, shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written assessment and interview. The final selection will be based on the candidates’ performance during the interview and written assessment, with preference of reference check. 

Local applicants of Banke and Dang districts, persons with disabilities, and individuals from marginalized/disadvantaged groups will be given priority in the selection process.
