2. Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program Phase II (NLRP II)
Background
From July 2018 to June 2023, Caritas Nepal has been implementing the Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program (NLRP) with financial support from Caritas Australia and Australian Aid. Starting from July 2023 and continuing until June 2028, Caritas Nepal will undertake the Nepal Livelihood and Resilience Program Phase II (NLRP II) with the aim of enhancing the social well- being and resilience of vulnerable farming households and communities. To achieve this overarching objective, the project focuses on three thematic areas. The first thematic area is food security and resilience to climate change. The end of project outcome is improving food security of smallholder farming households from homestead production, and improved resilience from climate change”.
The second thematic area is “increasing household incomes”. The end of project outcome is “improved income in enterprising farmer households due to effectively pursuing enterprises with the support of community cooperatives”. The third thematic area is “improving social protection”. The end of project outcome is “improved social protection situation and child rights situation in the communities with participation of women and children”.
3. Job Purpose:
The Jr. Program Assistant will have the primary responsibility of leading and executing the Cooperative Development/Management, social sector activities including child club management/activities as well as support team t to implement Agriculture/enterprise sector activities and prepare sector’s event report.
The Jr. Program Assistant will provide technical assistance and technical backstopping at cooperative, group/household level, child club. Furthermore, they will assume responsibility for overall data management, and documentation of project-related activities.
4. Main duties and responsibilities:
This will include, but not limited to the following:
- Conduct and facilitate the program activities under objective three of NLRP-II i.e.
- Cooperative development & Management, social protection/child club activities
- (primary).
- Support team member to conduct the other program activities such as agriculture,
- enterprise sector (secondary).
- Facilitate the group/community/municipal level training program
- Door to door visit and group visit and provide technical support to the community people
- Close coordination with program team, stakeholders at municipal level.
- Support to team member to facilitate/conduct other activities under program.
- Prepare activities plan and implement the activities (close coordination with team).
- Prepare the event reports, support for half yearly and yearly reporting.
- Support to MEAL team to conduct the Baseline survey.
- Contribute to the preparation of periodic project progress reports.
- Ensure the quality and confidentiality of project data and information.
- Document case studies, good practices, and create presentation materials and visible
- Field Work: 80%
5. Requirements
Minimal requirements
- Minimum 10+2 management or social science or development related fields; working experience child club management, cooperative development/management, social protection/social issues.
- Minimum of 2-3-years relevant program implementation and report writing experience in a professional environment, preferably in livelihood sector.
- Excellent knowledge of and experience on reporting writing and case stories, good practices prepare and presentation.
- Strong communication and influencing skills using evidence-based methods;
- Technical competence in evidence-based monitoring and evaluation approaches and practices both for accountability and learning processes;
- Excellent understanding of data and information phases/needs for program management and decision-making;
- Excellent ability to articulate oral and written technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods, including guidance/tool/SOP development, and facilitating community-level and key stakeholder KIIs & FGDs;
- Experience with KoBo Toolbox or other ODK software is desirable.
- Having Motor bike driving licenses is an advantage;
- Fluent in both English and Nepali.
- Additional Duties: In addition to the above, he/she may be required to carry out other duties that will be assigned by the line manager.
6. Reporting:
Support for quarterly and annual narrative reports as per donor. Adhere to the reporting guidelines and recommendation of the Program Coordinator and Field Office In-Charge. Submit monthly personal work completed report and plan to Program Coordinator and Regional/province Manager.
7. Collaboration:
Collaborate and coordinate with other sector/departments and programs to enhance program quality and accountability of Caritas Nepal.
