JOB SUMMARY(Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy)

Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy under direct supervision of Province Coordinator is primarily responsible for engaging in USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) which is an adolescent co-led initiative to empower girls and boys, 10-19 years and including the most marginalized, to attain their adolescent reproductive health (ARH) rights.

The goal of the program is to support adolescents to reach their full potential by; ensuring they receive correct and appropriate reproductive health (RH) information and guidance to decision-making skills, creating an environment conductive to making healthy reproductive health decisions and facilitating translation of these decisions into healthy behaviors.

S/he is responsible for identifying needs of life skills based education in the community and should design proper training and development programs with proper collaboration with the concerned stakeholders: locals, local level authorities, youth allies, program partners and concerned agencies among others.

Other responsibilities are concerned with supporting teachers’ training, tracking progress of both program and finance, facilitation of Social Analysis and Action (SAA) sessions and monitoring UDAAN sessions.

S/he is also responsible for conducting proven life skill training packages developed by concerned agencies and support to implement and provide quality assurance on the same. S/he should ensure that all relevant data collected, compiled, analyzed are accurate, appropriate, complete, consistent, and timely.

The employee shall fully comply with CARE policies and procedure and should be accountable for it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS (Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy):

R1. Planning and implementing life skills based education Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy

Support to identify the needs of the life skills based education and assist province coordinator to prepare plan of UDAAN classes and other education interventions.

Identify resource materials and modules and develop implementation plan on financial literacy for adolescents.

Support program team to ensure access and ARH service utilization by the hard to reach and marginalized adolescent girls from the disadvantaged groups

R2. Training and Development of Skills,Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy

 

Identify and support to select local resource persons for providing ALC (Alternative Learning Centre) training.

Update on program progress against plan with local implementing partners at district levels about life skills based education.

Work with local government and schools (public and private) to identify the issues of school dropout students and support them for re-enrollment in schools with the

support of youth networks/ groups, parents and civil societies.

Work with the youth allies/ networks/ groups at communities to organize the campaign for school enrolment and re-enrollment of dropped out students to continue their education.

Collect proven life skill training packages developed by concerned agencies and support to implement and provide quality assurance on the same.

R3. Collaborate with Stakeholders and Monitoring,Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy

Collaborate with Course providers, Community Support Workers and external partners.

Assist in providing logistic support to relevant stakeholders, community and reproductive health facilities in case of necessities as mandated by the program.

Create an enabling environment for adolescent boys and girls to raise campaign against social injustice and discrimination related to education and adolescent reproductive health.

Maintain close working relations with all program partners.

Support partners to build the capacity of staff to implement the project activities focusing of out of school adolescents.

Guide partners to develop and implement annual and periodic work plan, track progress of both program and finance.

Work in close coordination with relevant stakeholders and partners where applicable to give synergistic effect to the program

Develop mechanism and linkages with cooperatives to make them accessible to the poor vulnerable and socially excluded communities

Support partners to implement alternative pathways and financial literacy packages for adolescents who are unable to attend school

Ensure quality implementation of UDAAN and other educational intervention at community

Visit the program sites and provide onsite coaching and guidance based on their

R4. Staff Management Mentor and manage the direct reports.

Support training and development of staffs for capacity building.

Keep staffs well-informed on current situation and reorient them on new guideline whenever changes occur.

Develop accurate and detailed job descriptions which reflect specific job responsibilities.

Motivate, train, coach, supervise and mentor staff from time to time to boost their confidence

Work is based in Janakpur project office. Frequent visit to the project municipalities is necessary.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification and Experience for Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy:

Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences or relevant field with 3 years of relevant

experience in non-formal education, life skill base education program especially atTerai region of Nepal. Prior experience of UDAAN will be an added advantage. Local candidates will be given priority and encouraged to apply.

Skills and Knowledge for Life Skills Education Officer Job Vacancy:

Report writing skill along with basic formatting skill required to prepare report.

Communication skills including strong verbal and written language skills in both English and Nepali.

Interpersonal and facilitation skills.
