Nepal Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) Job Vacancy for Various Positions
NREP, backed by the British Embassy-Kathmandu (BE-K), is a transformative Government of Nepal initiative. It aims to revolutionize sustainable energy development in Nepal by catalyzing private investment, fostering low-carbon economic growth, and ensuring sustainable energy access for all. NREP operates across three provinces: Madhesh, Lumbini, and Karnali, and is implemented by the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) with technical assistance from the DAI Global UK Consortium, comprising DAI, Winrock International, Policy Entrepreneurs Inc., and Samriddha Pahad.
NREP’s mission is clear: to boost private sector investment in distributed renewable energy markets, primarily in commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. This initiative seeks to enhance universal energy access, improve the quality of life for Nepali citizens in remote areas, and establish a conducive policy, planning, legal, and regulatory framework for sustained progress in renewable energy market development and universal energy access.
NREP has been instrumental in designing and implementing the Sustainable Energy Challenge Fund (SECF), a viability gap-based fund integrated with the Central Renewable Energy Fund (CREF) of AEPC. SECF plays a pivotal role in providing both financial and technical support to distributed sustainable energy projects, ensuring their financial viability and sustainable operation. SECF is designed to attract private sector investments into the renewable energy sector, whether in the form of equity or credit. Its goal is to de-risk investments, bringing projects closer to commercial viability.
