PHASE Nepal Vacancy 2024 for Trainee Research Associate, Digital Communication and IT Assistant
PHASE Nepal is a non-governmental, organization established in 2006 with a vision to build a self-empowered and self-sustained society where all kinds of discrimination are absent (please visit www.phasenepal.org for more information). PHASE Nepal’s health, education, livelihoods, research and strengthening the concept of independent living projects are currently running across various rural communities in Nepal.
We also implement various research projects in partnership with different universities from the UK and organizations from other Asian and African countries. Around 65 colleagues work with PHASE Nepal as full-time staff and hundreds of volunteers help to accomplish our research and implementation activities. PHASE Nepal is currently looking for suitable candidates for the following position:
1. Position: Trainee Research Associate
- Number of positions: Three (3)
- Qualification: MPH or equivalent health related degree
- Starting internship allowance NRs 30,000 gross per month
- Fresh and bright candidates are encouraged to apply – full mentorship will be provided
- Duration: Initially for six months with possibility of promotion and time extension based on the candidate’s performance.
- Duty Station: It is a Bhaktapur (New Thimi) based position with occasional field visits to project/ research sites.
DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support in coordinating, planning, organizing, and conducting research.
- Support in scientific literature search, critical review and produce a state-of-art knowledge.
- Support in the development of qualitative and quantitative research instruments, including structured survey, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussion for primary data collection.
- Help explore, identify, and collect data from the secondary sources.
- Assist in training to interviewers, enumerators, facilitators, and note takers, employed for qualitative and quantitative data collection.
- Transcribe and translate qualitative data to prepare for analysis.
- Clean, consolidate and prepare the dataset for quantitative data analysis and help in coding for qualitative data.
- Assist in preparing the periodic reports to summarize project progress and help write up for publication, presentation, or for the use in further applied or theoretical research activities.
- Assist in data collection to conduct KII, produce Participatory Videos and Survey.
- Ensure research ethics maintained throughout the research period.
- Coordinate with different department (HR, Logistic, finance as and when needed for project implementation).
- Other responsibilities shall be assigned as per the requirement for this position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- At least MPH or equivalent degree in any health-related discipline preferably with specialization in Global / Public Health, Research Methodology, Disability, Physiotherapy, Nursing etc.
- Fresh and bright candidates with aim of developing their career in Research will be given priority. Full mentorship and occasional professional training will be provided.
- Candidates with experience in research, mainly in conducting Key Informant Interviews (KII), Focus Group Discussion (FGD)/ in-depth interviews, Field Surveys and using participatory methods are preferred but experience is not an essential criteria.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office

2. Position: Digital Communication and IT Assistant
- Number of positions: One
- Duration: Initially for six months with possibility of promotion and time extension based on the candidate’s performance.
- Duty Station: PHASE office at Suryabinayak-4, Nayathimi, Bhaktapur with occasional field visits to project/ research sites as per need.
DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design/adopt/adapt appropriate digital communication tools, materials in close coordination with the PHASE research and program team and support to disseminate through approved media.
- Design a new website template (mentoring will be provided), contents, share with the team for feedback, finalize accordingly.
- Update the websites, modify contents for up-to-date information sharing.
- Collect and compile communication information and share through appropriate media including organization’s social media.
- Work in collaboration with the team members and project managers to develop clean, modern, smooth animations and transitions that provide an excellent user experience.
- Co-ordinate with different departments for collecting requirements regarding required data and reporting automations
- Support to maintain content-related data in excel.
- Implement basic SEO techniques to improve content visibility.
- Monitor website analytics to assess content performance.
- Support other team members for the best utilization of advanced features of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Monitor and report system and network health and related threats.
- Oversee incident response planning as well as facilitate the investigation of security breaches
- Perform any other assignments related to digital communication and IT in the organization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Completed bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent degree in related discipline.
- Fresh and bright candidates with the aim of developing their career in the IT sector.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali languages.
