Prakriti Resources Centre Vacancy 2081 for Finance Officer, Project Officer, Programme Coordinator

Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC) is a non-governmental organisation working for sustainable development and environmental justice in Nepal. Its focus areas of work include climate change, low-carbon development, resilience and disaster risk reduction and environmental sustainability. In these areas, PRC conducts research and study; carries out policy intervention; builds awareness, knowledge and capacity of stakeholders; and facilitates dialogue among them.

Finance Officer

  • Reporting Line: Finance Manager
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Financial Management
      • Ensure that adequate financial controls are in place to maintain proprietary and proper accountability of expenditure.
      • Record the financial transactions and ensure that are authorized and have adequate supporting documentation, filled, maintained and can be easily extracted to prepare financial statements
      • Voucher preparation (settlement, revenue /cash) for projects
      • Prepare, issue cheques and obtain an approval signature from the concerned person of organization and maintain the file
      • Make entries on accounting software (Saralbooks) daily for organization.
      • Regular clearing of receivables/payables for projects/ administration and other
        entities.
      • Timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in line with organizational and funding organization requirements.
      • Preparation of petty cash daybook and report for any variances.
      • Support the line manager in conducting audits.
      • Process payment of salaries, allowances, travel claims and other payments to PRC staff and other claimants.
      • Visit banks, tax office and other institution as required.
    • Financial Compliances
      • Ensure all financial transactions take place within the stipulated project period.
      • Petty cash handling and management of banking transactions.
      • Ensure timely deposit of TDS and CIT/PF and E-filing of TDS as per provision of Income Tax Act and is done on time.
      • Supporting in conducting project audit, internal audit and statutory audit.
      • Ensure full compliance with the donor requirement, organizational policies of PRC and legal requirement.
    • General Administration
      • Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial documents.
      • Deliver works complying with the organization’s policies and procedures.
      • Performs other duties as assigned by the line manager.
      • Other tasks are assigned as necessary according to organizational needs.
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Business Studies or equivalent.
      Preference will be given to those specialized in finance
    • Minimum experience of one year in a similar position in NGO/INGO and Private
      sector
    • Experience in handling accounting software such as Saral Book Accounting
      Software
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of financial and accounting regulations and its principles
    • Familiar with NGO administration and operation
    • Knowledge of logistics and procurements system for supplies and equipment
    • Strong command in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
    • Willing to travel within the country when work demands
    • Able to take initiative, multi-tasking and willingness to work under pressure to
      meet deadlines

Project Officer (Climate Finance)

  • Reporting Lines: Programme Coordinator
  • Duties and Responsibilities
    • Project Management
      •  Work closely with Programme Coordinator and engage in advancing the climate finance
        related project.
      •  Track and build climate finance data base in reference to the national context.
      • Engage in research and study for producing knowledge products relevant to Nepali stakeholders including the government
      • Lead or support in the publication of policy briefs, reports and other knowledge products on
        climate finance.
      •  Assist to prepare project progress reports and ensure timely delivery.
      •  Engage in gathering and compiling climate finance project information (reports, assessments and baseline information, etc.).
      •  Participate in project reviews to assess project progress, capture lessons learned.
      •  Active contribution on knowledge management, lesson learned documentation and its
        communication
      •  Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, and other events related to climate finance.
      • Willingness to write articles, blogs or papers on climate and development finance.
      •  Networking and relationship strengthening with like-minded partners, networks and government agencies, represent PRC in relevant meetings, workshops, conferences and other relevant events.
    • General Administration
      • Support in organizing events such as workshop, meetings, trainings and other events.
      • Deliver work complying with the organization’s policies and procedures.
      • Support on administrative and logistics as per organizational needs.
  • Qualification, Skills and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree (preferably Masters) in Economics, Economic Development, Finance, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in related projects.
    • Ability and willingness to engage in statistical assessment related to climate finance
    •  Exposure or experience in national budget analysis is essential.
    • Previous engagement with NGOs and/or private sector. Familiar in engaging with the
      Ministry of Finance and/or the Ministry of Forests and Environment.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strong understanding of climate finance, planning, budgeting.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with the organizational team, partners, and government stakeholders.
    •  Proficiency in written and spoken English and Nepali.
    • Demonstrated research and reporting abilities.
    • Capability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and events.
    •  Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
    •  Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social media usage.
    • Willingness to travel if required.

Programme Coordinator (Renewable Energy)

  • Reporting Line: Programme Manager
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Project Management
      • Work closely with the Programme Manager and lead the renewable energy (RE) related project.
      • Conceptualize, plan and implement activities for the given project in coordination with the Programme Manager.
      • Provide technical inputs in the design and development of concept notes and funding proposal.
      • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of progress reports
      • Ensure proper documentation of renewable energy related data and information.
      • Assess and share project progress, capture lessons learned and document them.
      • Contribute on knowledge generation, management, capturing lessons learned and documentation for effective communication
      • Lead or contribute on RE related publication including policy assessment, briefs, articles and blogs.
      • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and other events.
    • Networking Building
      • Promote the Multi-Actor Platform for 100% RE (MAP for 100%RE) and support networking and collaboration with like- minded organizations.
      • Represent PRC in various meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
      • Maintain record of contacts of key persons and institutions working in the field of Renewable Energy.
    • General Administration
      • Support in organizing events such as workshop, meetings, trainings and other events.
      • Deliver work complying with the organization’s policies and procedures.
      • Support on administrative and logistic as necessary ..
  • Qualification, Skills and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree (preferably Masters) in Energy, Engineering or related disciplines.
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in related projects.
    • Experience in renewable energy sector is essential.
    • Previous engagement with NGOs and/or private sector, preferably within the climate or
      environment sector.
    • Familiar with the work of Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation,the
      Ministry of Forest and Environment and Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC)
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strong understanding of renewable energy, project planning and budgeting, and climate
      change.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with the organizational team, partners/networks, and government stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Nepali.
    • Demonstrated research and reporting abilities.
    • Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and events.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social media usage.
    • Willingness to travel as required.
