Business, Marketing, and Sales Skills Training – Facilitator
1. Background
Public Welfare Youth committee (JKYS), Rautahat has completed 25 years from the date of registration as well as conducting different project activities from its inception period. This organization has been providing services like social mobilization, women empowerment, community development, sensitization/awareness rising activities, right based advocacy, peace building activities, Agri-livestock production and marketing activities etc. from last 25 years.
JKYS is registered in the District Administration Office, Rautahat in 2056 B. S. (DAO, Rautahat, Registration No.446/055/056 B S.) and affiliated with Social Welfare Council in 2059 B.S. (SWC Affiliation No. 14057/058/059B.S). It has a family of 25 general members including 7 active executive committees. NGO has 10 female volunteers and 22 male volunteers and 10 paid staff members. It is working in the field of social mobilization, capacity building, peace building, and non-formal education, sanitation, climate change, socio-economic development, and improvement on health status of especially to disadvantaged, marginalized
People in rural and backward communities, untouchable, madheshi and other community issues. To boost up the social, economic, educational and health status of the women, children especially Madheshi and Dalit community is the main objective of JKYS. Public Welfare Youth Committee has been outstandingly successful in developing partnership, wider and better network and professional relationship with many development partners; Heifer Project International Nepal, Plan International Nepal, and government agencies, especially DDCs, municipalities, Palika, Population Ministry and VDCs and community-based organization (CBOs) and their networks, and other civil society networks. JKYS has been working with the women led co-operative, Laligurans Social Womens Entreprenuer Co-operative on strengthening agri – processing center business.
Mainly, they collect the vegetables from different farmers and sells to various traders. They have the potential to trade around 10000kg/day but due to insufficient business, marketing and sales skills and ideas, they have been trading 500kg/day at present. Hence, we are planning to organize the business, marketing and sales training at Rautahat to increase the collection and sales of vegetables.
Enhancing Competitiveness of Rural Women Entrepreneur through Innovation in Vegetable Value Chain (IALVC) objectives of this project is to enable 1760 families to enable sustainable living income. This project will facilitate to upgrade and strengthen processing center of Vegetable. 1760 direct families will be served through the project whereas 1760 indirect participants will be benefited.
Project will be implemented in Gadhimai Municipality, Brindaban Municipality, Gujra Municipality and Madhavnarayan Municipality of Rautahat district. 1760 farmers will be capacitated for market led production and climate smart production technologies via 70 farmer’s business school and 70 demonstration plot. Project will contribute to enhanced productivity of agricultural commodity through better access to production technologies, introduction of climate smart technologies and capacity building of farm enterprises.
Smallholder farmers’ access to market will be enhanced by capacity building of individual farmers and cooperatives on business and marketing skills, establishing functional business relationships with private sectors, increasing access to financial and insurance services. Furthermore, cooperative will own the operation and management of processing center. Network of producer’s cooperative will channelize the collective marketing of produces through processing centers to ensure market for the smallholder farmers and brining efficiency in value chain. Farmers groups of cooperatives will be trained and capacitated for market led production thus ensuring fair price and market of their produces.
Processing center will build functional business linkage and with markets centers, input suppliers, service providers and potential private sectors for creating enabling environment for sustainable market system. For sustainability of project engagement of private sectors in different nodes of value chain will be insured with their co-investment as well. Overall, the project envisions a thriving cooperative owned processing center that contributes to the economic upliftment of rural community with increasing competitiveness of rural farmers by value addition and bringing efficiency in value chain.
2. Objectives
- To improve the marketing and sales skills of the co-operative.
- To increase the business volume of the co-operative.
- To enhance the co-operating skills, knowledge and attitude of business operation and management.
3. Scope of the work
The scope of the work will as be following:
- Need assessment and the design of the training session plan with consultation of JKYS Team. The session plan should include the business growth strategies, segmentation, targeting and positioning of costumer, costumer behavior, marketing strategies, sales and negotiation skills, sales script, closing etc
- Facilitate the 3 days interactive and engaging training at Rautahat
4. Target Audience
The targeted audience will be the board member, market management committee, processing center staff and JKYS staff. Most of the participant will be women who just have basic literacy level.
5. Methodologies
The training methodologies should be games, roleplay, case study sharing, group work, group discussion, lecture and presentation etc.
6. Deliverables
The deliverable will be as of following
- Session plan, schedule and resource materials of 3 days business, marketing and sales training.
- Training facilitation for the period of 3 days.
- The training completion report.
7. Timeline
The training will be of 8 hrs per day for 3 days which will be organized at Chapur, Rautahat.
8. Budget and payment
The facilitator will be paid for 4 days of total (3 days training facilitation + 0.5 days for preparation and 0.5 days for report writing. The travel, accommodation and fooding will be covered by JKYS. The payment will be provided after receiving the training completion report.
9. Qualification and experiences
The training facilitator should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum 3 years working experience in agriculture and proven history of facilitating training.
- At least of bachelor’s degree in business administration, agriculture or any relevant discipline.
