Rural Development and Empowerment Center (RUDEC), Nepal, is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization established in 1998 A.D. (2054 B.S.) and registered at the District Administration Office (DAO) in Nuwakot. It is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, NGO Federation Nepal, and NGO Coordination Committee.

RUDEC is the first pioneering NGO registered in the Nuwakot district, with a well-established logistic management system based in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot. RUDEC was founded to utilize local resources wisely while enhancing the capacity of local people, ensuring livelihood improvement opportunities for poor, deprived, and destitute community members, especially women, children, marginalized, and vulnerable populations in Nuwakot and surrounding districts.

Since its inception, RUDEC has been implementing integrated development and humanitarian activities across various sectors, including Education, Health, Child Rights, Food Security, Rural Infrastructure Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, Renewable Energy, Environment, Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Human Rights, Peace, and Democracy. Officer-Literacy Program – 1

Job Summary:

Officer, Literacy Program serves as the leading technical expert in developing literacy skills and promoting reading skills and habits. This position entails frequent travel to project schools/areas and providing technical support to the PNGO Literacy Facilitator (LF), regular communication with the Program Manager for day-to-day operational support, Literacy Officer of RtR Field Office for technical support, as well as coordination and collaboration with local government entities.

Required:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in education or related fields; prefer a master’s degree in education or related field.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years (for bachelor’s degree holders) or 2 years (for master’s degree holders) of professional experience in implementing educational projects, including workshops, meetings, seminars, and teacher training.
  • Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum, and teacher training at the primary level.
  • Excel in planning, budgeting, supervision, and project implementation.
  • Proficient in English and Nepali, both written and verbal; adept in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred:

  • Possess five years of professional experience in implementing educational projects in the field, holding a master’s degree in education.
  • Demonstrate proven effectiveness in working or volunteering with non-profit organizations, emphasizing high-quality work and efficient resource management.

Program Manager – 1

Job Summary: The Program Manager (PM) leads the overall program related to literacy and Girls’ Education program in the district with close coordination with the Room to Read office. The key role of the Program Manager is to make primary school children independent readers by improving their literacy skills and reading habits, b) ensure that girls complete at least secondary school and are equipped with life skills by overcoming barriers that they face at family, community and school and c) Coordinate with local governments to develop strategic partnership for successful implementation of annual planned activities in line with country strategy of Room to Read.

S/he needs to supervise the staff under him/her and will be involved in frequent travel to program sites as well as mobilizing and regular interaction with all staff. This position serves as the main point of contact for Room to Read, the local governments and other stakeholders.

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Management, Education, Gender Studies, Social Work, or relevant field.
  • Five (5) years of proven experience in the relevant field (preferred in the field of girls’ education, basic education and GESI, especially for underprivileged children).
  • Good knowledge and understanding of climate change, and education issues related to gender equality in education, including teaching methodologies, non-formal education, and community involvement in schools.
  • Knowledge and skills in planning, budgeting, supervising, and project implementation
  • Previous work experience with adolescent girls, life skills for decision-making, and community mobilization.
  • The ability to supervise staff and conduct training and workshops for staff, stakeholders and adolescents.
  • Ability to travel frequently to program areas throughout the district to spend time in the project sites visiting schools, and local-level government offices, and meeting with stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English & Nepali.
  • Proven track record of achieving results, have People Management/leadership skills, and Work Flexibility.
  • Follow a high level of professional ethics, adhere to the Child Protection Policy, code of conduct, and standards while working with children when it comes to child abuse and exploitation, and believe that all children have equal protection rights.

Girls’ Education Program Officer – 1

Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager the Officer, Girls’ Education Program (GEPO) will be responsible for overseeing all the technical aspects of the Girls’ Education Program (GEP) including support on planning and implementing the program. This position requires knowledge and skills in girls’ education, gender equality and response, project management, training, and facilitation, monitoring and evaluation, life skills, mentoring, child protection, networking with government at the local level and stakeholders, budgeting, and supervising. The GEPO will supervise the Associate, Girls’ Education Program (GEPA) and work in close coordination with the Program Coordinator, and GEPO from Room to Read for any assistance.

Required:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in education, Gender studies, Social Work, or relevant field (Masters’ Degree preferred in mentioned subject).
