KOSHISH Nepal New Vacancy 2080 for Community Campaigner
KOSHISH, National Mental Health Self-Help Organization, established in 2008, is breaking the silence and amplifying voices of persons with mental health condition and psychosocial disability for inclusion of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) within and beyond the health system. KOSHISH promotes self-advocacy in the spirit of “NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US.”
KOSHISH in partnership with CBM Global is implementing the “Promoting Mental Health and Suicide Prevention” project with the overall objective to contribute to an inclusive environment where persons with psychosocial disabilities and other underrepresented/ disadvantaged groups enjoy their rights in Gandaki Province in the districts of Kaski, Lumjung and Gorkha from 2024-2027.

Job Overview and Core Purpose:
| Community Campaigner will carry out tasks such as facilitation in formation of peer support groups, self-help groups, social mobilization, community orientation, psychoeducation, primary psychological support, identification of cases with mental health condition, coordination, follow-up and door-to-door visits for screening especially the following roles and responsibilities. |
| 1. Screening and Referral for Mental Health Support: |
| Conduct screening for mental health and psychosocial issues and provide basic psychosocial support in the communities. |
| Support in detailed assessment of severe mental health cases. |
| Referral of person with psychosocial barrier and persons at risk of suicide to the counselor or mental health services at local health center for mental health and psychosocial support services. |
| 2. Support Groups and Self-Help Groups: |
| Facilitate in formation of peer support groups and self-help groups of persons with mental health condition/ psychosocial disability. |
| Capacity development of SHG members and leaders. |
| Support in self-advocacy along with other cross disability groups and advocacy groups. |
| Linkages of peer support and SHG members with government social security schemes as well as other services available in the communities. |
| 3. Community engagement, awareness, and sensitization: |
| Coordinate and collaborate with community stakeholders for awareness and promotional activities on psychosocial wellbeing and suicide prevention. |
| Facilitate community awareness programs on mental health in schools and communities. |
| Carry out follow-up and home visits. |
| Assist in mapping community resources, establishing linkages, and referring individuals to specialized mental health services as well as other government services. |
| Maintain readiness for humanitarian or emergency response situations. |
| 4. Documentation and Reporting: |
| Maintain proper record-keeping and privacy of information. |
| Maintain database and records of screening, home visits, peer support and SHG meetings and minutes. |
| Prepare monthly progress reports and present them to supervisors. |
| Assist in preparing periodic project reports. |
| 5. Safety and Safeguarding |
| Ensure safety and security of all individuals during project implementation. |
| Compliance with all aspects of the organizational Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, abuse and harassment policies and associated standards and procedures in collaboration with team/central office/ safeguarding focal person. |
Qualifications and skills required:
| Minimum Proficiency Certificate (+2) or equivalent, Bachelor Preferable |
| Knowledge of mental health and psychosocial disability is desirable. |
| Having good communication and coordination skills. |
| Able to work under difficult conditions in rural environment. |
| Two years or more of community mobilization experience. |
| Ability to work independently as well as in a team. |
| Learning aptitude. |
| Basic computer skills (word, excel, power point) |
